The Saturday Club
Free interactive sessions for ages 5+ in Fordbank PS on Saturday mornings from 10.30 - 12.00
Aimed at helping our youngest learn everyday skills that will help them as they grow and develop with lots of fun games and activities
Focussing on healthy living we use our mobile cookers and range of other equipment to teach healthy meal preparation, provide healthy snacks as well as other everyday skills your youngsters can benefit from to gain independence and build confidence

Our third annual community fun day saw 364 locals enjoy the many free activities on offer including inflatable rides, glitter tattoos, football, arts and crafts, music, martial arts, fire engine and lots more

Supporting Fordbank PS Girls football team

Corseford Tara are proud to support the fantastic Fordbank PS girls football team by providing training hoodies for the whole squad. These hoodies will serve the school for future players too


New barrel planters installed
August 6 2023
Two barrel planters were added to the estate on Ness Avenue and Spey Place. This continues our commitment with existing barrels from Teviot to Tay

XMAS Disco 2022
December16, 2022
Our second annual Christmas disco was a huge success wih 90 local children taking up our free tickets. The disco lasted for 90 minutes with each youngster receiveing a free goodie bag and soft drink as well as a gift from Santa who popped in for a surprise visit
Rendering on Corseford Avenue
October 11, 2022
The Tara identified both car park areas on Corseford Avenue to Renfrewshire Council for maintenance in February 2020. We are delighted, with the support of Cllr Steel, that we were able to action this rendering work from Renfrewshire Council. Improving the look of the area and securing the stability of the walls


Corseford Fun Day 2022
June 25, 2022
Corseford Fun Day 2022 was a huge success with free activities galore. Through our fundraising efforts and working with Corseford Keystore, Amey, Linstone HA, Create Paisley, Thorn Athletic and Fordbank Scouts we ensure that every family can enjoy all the free activities and goodies on offer from all those mentioned above. The event attracted 459 local residents.
Safety rail installed on school hill
February 25, 2022
Treasurer Irene Struthers and Cllr Andy Steel celebrate the great news in February that a handrail would be installed on the school hill to provide safe passage to residents in cold and icy weather.
Cllr Steel took an action from the Tara general meeting in December 2021 to ensure the handrail be installed.


The Saturday Club launches
January 20, 2022
The Saturday Club launched in January 2022.
Corseford Tara obtained grant funding to provide free youth activities on Saturday monrings in Fordbank PS.
Working with the headteacher of Fordbank PS Ms Wadsworth and partners Active Schools and Create Paisley we are providing varied youth activities for ages from 5 -18
XMAS Disco
December 1st 2021
The Tara welcomed 60 kids for a free disco and goodie bags all round with a surprise special visit from Mr Santa Claus himself


Movies come to Corseford
October 31st 2021
Corseford Tara were proud to work with Linstone HA, Regional Screen Scotland, Screen Scotland and Spateston Community Development Trust to put on a free movie day for local residents.
Over 100 attendees enjoyed Cruella and Scoob with free goodies and refreshments provided
Tweed Place substation modernised
September 2021
The Tweed Place substation was an area identified by Corseford Tara that needed updated. With help from Cllr Steel dialogue with Scottish Power led to the complete overhaul of the sub station wall into a nice modern surround


Community Garden
August 14th 2021
Tara member Rhoda Willis and her friends at Renfrewshire Autism Project finished turning the waste land at the underpass into a lovely community garden with funds sourced by Corseford Tara from Paths for All, Green Space Fund and Action Earth.
Tesco Tokens
July 2021
Fundraising has begun already for the 2023 Corseford Community Fun Day.
Tesco Linwood included Corseford Tara into their token competition with £500 guaranteed for 3rd place, £1000 for second and £1500 for the cause with the most tokens.
The Tara finished in 3rd place and that £500 will go straight into the funds for 2023 Corseford Community Fun Day.

Underpass Regeneration Phase 2
July 1st 2021
The community of Corseford once again rallies round to complete Phase 2 of the regeneration of the Beith Road Underpass.
Led by talented local artist Lauren Anderson the local comunity got to work with thanks to our funders Johnstone TOA Taxis, Paths for All, Renfrewshire Council Green Space Fund and Linstone Housing Association.

Community Clean-up

The team at Filshill joind us at the Keystore to help local volunteers with our monthly community clean up around Corseford


Flood prevention
April 16 2021
Work commenced on catching the water run off from the Fordbank PS pitch which floods the adjacent path during heavy rain.
Corseford Tara identified this as the source of much of the flooding and working with Renfrewshire Council and Amey a lot of that flooding has been prevented.
Lighting up Christmas
December 2020
When Corseford Tara heard that Johnstone Town centre had been granted new lights for the festive peiod we were quick off the mark and asked Renfrewshire Council if we could have the old lights for Corseford.
We asked Chris in the Corseford Keystore if we could add these lights to his already successful Corseford Christmas light switch on and we are thankful he agreed.


Halloween Hunt
October 31st 2020
Tara member Wilma Dean and her spooky wanderers went on the hunt to give prizes to Corseford's little scarers who had signed up to take part in activities orgnised by Wilma to make halloween as fun as can be during lockdown.
A big thanks goes to Wilma and her friends who braved horrendous weather to ensure Corseford's little scarers had a frighteningly enjoyable Halloween.
Removal of contaminated bins
October 2020
Contaminated communal bins across Corseford were removed after consultation with Renfrewshire Council.
These bins were a nuisance to residents who raised the issue with the Tara.
The smell in the summer had a large effect on residents as the bins were never emptied due to their misuse.


Community Noticeboard
October 21 2020
Corseford Tara purchase and install a new community noticeboard next to the Keystore in the heart of the community.

Ettrick Terrace fence maintenance
September 20 2020
Corseford Tara understand the priorities local authorities have and strains on resources. Where we can help we will offer.
The Tara asked Linstone HA to provide us with paint so we could coat the metal railing on Ettrick Terrace. It was the fences first new coat in over 20 years transformed from rust to shiny black


Social Isolation Bingo
August 2020
Corseford residents were treated to some fab nights of social isolation bingo and a bit of a slosh when our friends the Darkwood Crew from Ferguslie Park arrived on their Bingo Bus.
These evenings were great respite during Covid, allowing residents to meet outdoors
Flowerpots revived
August 2020
The Flowerpots were brought back to life twice in 2020 mainly thanks to Christine Grant and Jackie Black partly funded by the Tara
When they were vandalised, Laura Breeze from Linstone HA came forward with the funding to replace the vandalised flowers


Street sign planters
August 2020
Chairperson Jane Struthers arranged for bespoke street planters made by Wee Barra Company to be placed on seven streets from Teviot & Ettrick Terrace through to Tay Place with plans to continue throughout Corseford where they can be positioned safely and alternative, lampost planters installed where barrel planters won't fit.
Dangerous wall replaced
August 27 2020
A dangerous wall leaning against a lampost on Ettrick Terrace needed to be replaced.
Working with residents and Linstone HA the Tara were able to ensure that the height of the replacement fence matched the locals wishes.


Community Clean Up
August 1st 2020
A planned litter pick, weeding and tidying event saw locals do some great work in the area during lockdown when local authorities were unable to carry out maintenance of the estate.
Community tools available to borrow
July 2020
Team Up to Clean Up tools were given to the Tara by Corseford Clean Up Crew.
These tools are for the community to use and keep their own streets or pathways maintained.
Corseford Tara added to the tools also. If you want to borrow them, please contact us.


P7 leavers gift bags
June 25 2020
Due to lockdown this years primary 7 pupils at Forbank and St Anthony's primaries were not permitted a prom.
Instead the schools held a small party in the classrooms for the pupils and the Tara provided the P7 pupils at both schools little goodie bags to mark the occassion.
Gardening Starter Packs
June 2020
The Tara provided families across Corseford with garden starter packs to help with mental health during lockdown. The packs included seed potatoes, carrot, pea and lettuce seeds, a strawberry plant, garden gloves, 60ltr of compost, a 42ltr tub for growing potatoes, plant pots and an info sheet


Knit for the NHS
June 2020
Treasurer Irene Struthers began this great initiative to knit hats and blankets for the Paisley Maternity Ward not only to help the newborn babies but provide much needed productive activity to help adults with mental health during lockdown.
The Tara provided the materials required to all who registered an interest with people from as far away as Elgin contacting us wanting to get involved.
Estate maintenance
May 2020
Corseford Tara invested in a petrol lawnmower and strimmer as well as other tools to maintain our estate in the absense of Renfrewshire Council during lockdown.
We also provided a garden maintenance service to those in isolation who were eligible for garden assistance from Renfrewshire Council who had stopped the service. This allowed those residents the opportunity for fresh air in their own garden whilst still isolating.


Covid19 Resposne
May 2020
Working with Linstone HA and other organisations the Tara raised thousands of pounds to assist our community during lockdown.
Offering many services from financial help for those on furlough, activity packs for mental health support and lots of other services the Tara were a vital local link to provide fast support to our community
Drain unblocking
March 2020
One of the issues raised by the Tara during an estate walkthrough with council representatives was the amount of blocked drains in the area.
The Tara are thankful for the support of Gail Scoular from Renfrewshire Council who organised the unblocking of the drains and has raised all issues with the relevant departments.


Race Night
February 7 2020
Corseford Tara held a Race Night fundraiser in Kilbarchan Bowling Club on Friday 7th February.
A buffet was provided with a disco at the end. Thank you to all who turned up.
A great time was had by all with lots of funds raised for the Tara's projects
Psychic Night
November 15 2019
The Tara hired Spateston Bowling Club to host a Psychic Night and disco.
Organised by Tara member Jane Struthers the night was a huge success raising much needed funds for Tara projects with everyone enjoying their evening which ended with a disco.


Community Clean up

Another month, another community clean-up.
The little one's doing a fantastic job keeping Corseford clean.
Table Top Sale
October 26 2019
The Tara held a Table Top Sale in Fordbank PS to raise funds for our projects.
Organised by Chairperson Paul McCallum the event was a success with all positions sold out.
Many thanks to all who booked a table, we hope it was a success for you.


ASDA Tokens
October 2019
The Tara were delighted to be accepted into the ASDA Linwood token competition.
With a minimum of £500 guaranteed which will go straight to the funds for the next Corseford Community Fun Day.
Thank you very much to ASDA Linwood & everyone who put their tokens in our box.
Underpass Regeneration Phase 1
October 2019
The Tara gained permission from Renfrewshire Council to rengenerate the Beith Road underpass and get rid of the graffiti to make it more appealing to youngsters who use it for nursery and school as well as access to the park in Spateston.
Local artist Lauren Anderson donated her time to work with pupils from Fordbank and St Anthony's Primary Schools to create a theme with pupils from both schools working together with Lauren on the project as well as volunteers from the local community.
Debbie Anderson and Johnstone TOA Taxis donated £1800 to the work with further support coming from GoWright Ltd and CCG (Scotland) Ltd.


Corseford Community Fun Day
August 24 2019
Corseford Tara held the first annual community fun day.
313 locals had fun on the wide array of inflatable equipment hired by the Tara.
Free ice cream and slushies were provided to every child, with goodie bags and bottled water provided to all by Chris at the Corseford Keystore.
This was a free event for the community paid for by funds raised by the Tara.
Linstone HA provided facepainting and hair glitter as well as a magician
